The Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC) is seeking to recruit competent and motivated persons to its team, as it seeks to promote a Quality Culture in Barbados’ tertiary educational sector. Successful applicants will be contracted for a period of two (2) years in the first instance.

 

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Salary Scale: S3 (Fixed)

 

The successful applicant will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the development of efficient and effective quality assurance and quality enhancement systems within a dynamic post-secondary/tertiary education and training environment in Barbados.

 He/she will develop and implement management systems for planning, monitoring and assessing organisational performance and effectiveness. The Executive Director will advise on and promulgate national standards related to the BAC’s functions. He/she will also lead and champion the roles, responsibilities and accomplishments of the BAC to generate confidence with stakeholders such as the line Ministry, partners, employers, and local and international organisations involved in quality assurance and quality enhancement.

 The preferred candidate will have the ability to manage and lead a team of professionals and to build collaborative relationships with a wide cross-section of local and international agencies. He/she will also have a proven track record in quality assurance and quality enhancement, as well as demonstrated competence in leading and managing educational development projects with multiple stakeholder interests.

  Qualifications and Experience:

 

  1.       A postgraduate qualification in Management, Human Resource Development, Education, Educational       Administration, or a related discipline.
  2.      At least five (5) years’ experience in a senior management position.
  3.       Working knowledge of government policy-making, administrative practices and financial management.

      4.   Global knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of tertiary education and training

      5.      Practical knowledge of and experience in quality assurance and quality enhancement policies, procedures and systems in tertiary education and training

      6.  Experience in educational administration or experience in the field of tertiary education and training at a senior management level will be considered

MANAGER, TECHNICAL SERVICES

 Salary Scale: S6 (Fixed)

 Qualifications and Experience:

  1.        Post Graduate qualification in Human Resource Development or related discipline with not less than three years’ relevant experience.
  2.        Practical experience in quality assurance and quality enhancement practices and procedures in the tertiary sector would be an asset.

  •                      Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  •                      Excellent interpersonal relations skills
  •                      Strong negotiating skills

QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER

 Salary Scale: S8 (Fixed)

 Brief Summary of Responsibilities

 The successful applicant will report to the Manager, Technical Services. He/she will be part of a team that has responsibility for the quality assurance and quality enhancement functions of the Council.

 Qualifications and Experience

 a)       A Master’s Degree in Education or related discipline;

 

b)      Specialized training in Curriculum Design and Education Evaluation; and

 

c)       At least three (3) years working experience in tertiary/postsecondary education and training.
