CARICOM Skills Certificate Newsletter Info for September 2022

The Certificate of Recognition of CARICOM Skills Qualification programme facilitates the free movement of labour by CARICOM Skilled Nationals (CSNs) by allowing CSNs of participating CARICOM nations to move between nations to seek and pursue work opportunities without needing to obtain a work permit. The information below provides insight into the performance of this programme during the summer period July & August 2022. We invite all readers to visit our website at www.bac.gov.bb to learn more about this programme and assess their eligibility to qualify as a CARICOM Skilled National.

During the summer period July-August 2022, fifty (50) Certificate applications and thirteen (13) Certificate verification requests were received. There were thirty-one (31) Certificates issued to successful applicants and fifteen (15) Certificates verified for holders of Certificates issued elsewhere in the region.

As the chart above shows, during the summer period, the largest number of Certificates were issued to nationals from Jamaica. No Certificates were issued to nationals from Antigua & Barbuda, Belize, Grenada, Haiti, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Suriname.

The largest number of the thirty-one Certificates issued were to those who applied under the Graduate category. No Certificates were issued to anyone under the categories Agricultural Worker, Media Person, Musician, Nurse, Teacher, and Sports Person.

Certificates were issued mostly to recipients who fell between the ages of 21 & 25.

 

BARBADOS ACCREDITATION COUNCIL RECOGNITION SERVICES

As the table above shows, there was significant demand for the Council’s recognition services during the summer period July & August 2022. The greatest level of demand was for the Recognition of Institution and/or Programme service.

 

BARBADOS ACCREDITATION COUNCIL REGISTRATION SERVICES

During the summer period July & August 2022, the University of the South Caribbean completed their registration with the Council for a two-year period August 2022 – August 2024. The University of the South Caribbean first became registered with the Council in 2008 and their most recent period of registration, prior to the current period, ended in 2019.
