The National Qualification Framework (NQF), which is Pillar 2 of the Barbados Human Resource Development Strategy 2011-2016, has been placed under the responsibility of the Council.
In order to prepare for this major initiative, the Executive Director, Quality Assurance Officers and the Project Coordinator (NQF) visited Mauritius, Scotland and England. The aim of the tours was to learn directly from the authorities in the respective countries of best practices in the design, development and implementation of their NQFs and also any pitfalls to avoid. The Council also signed a Memorandum of Technical Cooperation and Partnership with the Mauritius Qualifications Authority that will provide for the sharing of information, technical expertise and hosting of staff attachments, amongst other benefits.
